I do text/iMessage from my iPod and iPhone, when WiFi is accessible.
I have a TextPlus (a smart phone app) assigned number from a Portland, OR-area code. Tell me if you want the number.

You can always text from your phone to my email as well, and I can reply.
I have WhatsApp (another smart phone app) too, if you want to add me on there.
